Front Porch Revival

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.โ€ Matthew 18:20, NKJV

There is no greater testament to this truth than what occurred last night on the front porch of a Cracker Barrel.  Yesterday was my mother’s 70th birthday dinner/celebration, which is a noteworthy accomplishment in its own right and a good reason to celebrate.  However, her miraculous healing from cancer a few years earlier makes any birthday for her worth celebrating and praising Almighty God.  This one was no different…or so it seemed.

For the past year or so, my mother’s guiding principle has been this:

“In ALL things be led by the Holy Spirit.”

This seems so fitting for my family because every time we gather together, no matter when or where, a ‘church service’ breaks out.  Not your typical ‘church service’, mind you, but more of a gathering that is unscripted, spontaneous, and edifying for all present, with many of the spiritual gifts being used for the edification and order of the gathering.  You see, if and when we are truly in a position, both spiritually and physically, to be led by the Spirit, the things of the Spirit are manifest and we are ushered into the midst of Christ.

Last night one of these gatherings occurred on the porch of a Cracker Barrel…and it opened my eyes to something:  this is the future of the Church!  There is coming a day very soon when living temples full of the Holy Spirit, completely led by the Spirit, will gather in public places to worship and glorify Christ…this is how the next revival will look!  Now is the time for us to cast away those things that are holding us back in the Spirit so we can be truly led by Him in all things.
