A New Year’s Prayer

As I approach this new year with a renewed resolute focus on God, I am reminded of the “faithful saints in Christ Jesus at Ephesus.”[1]  Upon hearing of their “faith in the Lord Jesus and [their] love for all the saints,” Paul is prompted to pray:

“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power…”[2]

Oh Lord, I ask of You the following in the coming year:  1) Empower me with Your holy boldness that only comes from the Holy Spirit within me; 2) Equip me with the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You to render the sharing of my faith more effective; and, 3) Enhance and make more fervent the love for my fellow saints.  Amen!
