“Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:8-11 , NKJV)
Remember that feeling as a child when you received a personal invitation to a close friend’s birthday party? Your heart was filled with excitement and, as the day of the party got closer, a feeling of anticipation joined in. Finally, when the day of the party arrived, that feeling of pure joy was almost unable to bear.
Why should Christmas be any different? The coolest part is that my Friend—Jesus Christ—wants us to invite as many of our friends as we can. Oh, it gets even better. He even promises there will be ‘food’ (John 6:35) and ‘gifts’ (Romans 6:23) for all who come! How awesome is that? By the way, His birthday is tomorrow, and I am inviting all of you to join the party so that He will be your Friend, too. It will be an awesome party for sure!
