The Birth of Sin

“But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desires. Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.” (James‬ ‭1:14-15‬ , HCSB‬‬)

This passage makes clear that it is our own desires that draw us away from Christ, not anything from God. These desires are birthed from the flesh, and, in accordance with Romans 8:1, when we walk after the flesh instead of the Spirit, we allow this desire to conceive and give birth to sin. What follows is both condemnation and, ultimately, death. With this in mind, we must consider daily those desires that have the propensity to birth sin in our lives…it is a matter of life or death.
