Charles Spurgeon once stated, “I desire so to speak to you, that you may be girded for the battle against all sin and false doctrine, and be prepared to follow your Divine Lord in all His sacred warfare.” This quote about being girded for battle and prepared to follow Christ in sacred warfare is a reference to Ephesians 6:10-20.
In part, this reference speaks of the spiritual warfare that is being waged against absolute Truth. Regardless of the era, Christians of today face the same defeated enemy that Spurgeon refers to in his passage.
Satan’s war efforts seem stronger than ever in this present age, and there are increasing efforts to discredit the Word of God. However, as promised by Paul in the same passage mentioned above, one’s duty as a 21st century Soldier for Christ is to stand, fully employing all the weapons of spiritual warfare in order to “boldly make known the mystery of the gospel.”
